The waters off Cairns and Innisfail are famous throughout the world for the "big black"... the largest marlin in the world. It's not uncommon for over 150 fish to be caught in a single year from a single boat. Many are tagged and released, and it's only the possible records that hang from the scales on the Marlin Jetty.

A visit to Green Island and Fitzroy Island should be considered a must as first class diving conditions are provided for enthusiasts where over 1,500 varieties of fish can be viewed eyeball to eyeball.

The waterfront itself is quite spectacular with the fleets of game fishing vessels, pleasure craft and dive boats which come in all shapes and sizes.
